From the moment you walked into the Moody Center last night, you could feel it — the electricity, the anticipation, the kind of buzz only a truly legendary show can create. Tame Impala said it himself: you knew the energy was going to be unreal. And with a record-breaking crowd packed all the way to the front, the atmosphere was on another level from the very start.
Tame Impala delivered a seamless blend of classics and new favorites, the best section of the show was him laying down surrounded by lamps — perfect mood lighting, I’ll be back later on the lights, cause OMG. Whether that portion was intentional improvisation or a planned transition, it felt like stepping into Berghain for a moment: deep house, EDM textures, hypnotic rhythms. Easily one of the best stretches of the night.
And then… the lights. Shoutout to Tame Impala’s light team!
OH. MY. GOD.
People on TikTok have been begging for more U.S. dates, but honestly — not that I’m some arena expert — can most arenas even handle a setup like this? The visuals were breathtaking, by far the most mesmerizing, immersive lighting and camera work I’ve ever seen. Watching thousands of Austinites transform into moths, completely entranced and drawn into the glow, was pure magic.
The night kept building until it exploded into a 30-minute encore — yes, thirty minutes — from Tame Impala and the full crew. A record-breaking crowd, mind-bending lighting production, and one of the most unforgettable performances in Moody Center history. A legendary night in Austin.
