The Eric Hisaw Band released the 8 song album Street Lamp in 2018 to enthusiastic critical response including a 4 Star review in the Austin Chronicle. Pre-pandemic, the group gigged steadily across the state opening shows for luminaries like Alejandro Escovedo and the late Billy Joe Shaver, backing up roots rock stalwarts like Green On Red front man Dan Stuart and True Believer Javier Escovedo, while holding down a slew of regular gigs from Fort Worth to San Antone. Picking up the pieces and getting back to work in these turbulent times, the band is slowly returning to the stage while putting the finishing touches on a brand new album to be released in early 2022.
The latest line up has former Johnny Law bassist Ron McRae and drummer Paul Soliz (Gatesville, Pat Todd) joining Hisaw in a telecaster driven trio that mixes hard edge Stones inspired rockers, gulf coast soul and twist of Bakersfield twang. Their refreshing blend of relevant lyricism and throwback rock’n’roll has been met with a spirited appreciation from audiences who’ve caught their recent shows.
Noted journalist and A&R man, Bill Bentley says “The drums and bass blast away with a beefy finesse while Eric Hisaw sings his heart out and plays guitar like he was born with one in his hands.”
