Its the 2025 Kerrville Folk Festival take over of Texas Radio Live!

We welcome Texas music legends, Bob Schneider and Dale Watson!

About Bob Schneider

Austin, Texas-based singer-songwriter and former frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs, Bob Schneider is one of the most-celebrated musicians in the live music capital. Combining diverse styles, Schneider’s music spans genres, blending elements of folk, rock, rap, funk, bluegrass, reggae and country with the more traditional singer/songwriter aesthetic. In short, FRUNK.

Schneider has won more than 59 Austin Music Awards including Best Album, Best Songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male Vocals making him the most decorated artist in Austin’s storied music history.

Schneider’s fan base reaches far beyond the city limits of Austin. He started gaining national recognition with his major-label debut for Universal Records, Lonelyland. A fiercely-independent artist, Schneider opted to start his own label, Shockorama Records, which has afforded him the freedom to make the music his fans love, on his own terms.

Schneider’s live performances, both solo and with the band, are legendary. A two-time performer on his hometown’s famed Austin City Limits television show, he is also in the 20th year of his residency at The Saxon Pub. All told, he plays over a hundred shows a year and he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

About Dale Watson

Dale Watson is an award-winning hardest working real country music musician and producer who has been creating music and performing live for over 40 years. He has shared the stage with such icons as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson, just to name a few. He has been seen on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Austin City Limits, but most of the time, he is touring the world, killing it for his fans, keeping the country music roots sound alive. With over 30 albums and singles, Dale knows his way around the recording studio, which is why he built Watsun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, complete with the 1937 board from Sun Studio.

Most known for his classic anthem-like hit “I Lie When I Drink” Dale’s music ranges from swing to Honky Tonk and Rockabilly, and even scored the movie “Yellow Rose.” His instrumental album “Memphians” was recorded at the Wat-Sun Studio for that most authentic sound.

As an actor, he was honored to work with Stephen King and John Mellencamp on the Musical Ghost Brothers of Starkland County, starred in the film Yellow Rose, and appeared in and contributed his voice to multiple nationwide commercials.

His lifelong respect and love of original country music are the foundation for all his music and his Ameripolitan Awards, which celebrate young up-and-coming country artists and legends. The Awards focus on Honky Tonk, Rockabilly, Western Swing, and Outlaw Country Music. Awards go to singer-songwriters,  DJs, venues, Festivals, and musicians from those genres. Voting is comprised of fans and industry professionals, resulting in a much anticipated evening for over 10 years.

Currently, Dale continues to do what he loves… tour his ass off, write music, be in the studio, and spend time with friends and his wife, Celine.

Part of Sun Radio’s mission is to support local musicians

Texas Radio Live is a continuation of Larry Monroe’s program, Texas Radio. When Monroe moved to Austin in 1977, his goal was to put Austin music on the radio in the form of records, live performances, and interviews. Soon after he joined KUT in 1981, he started a program called Texas Music, which was soon called Texas Radio. Texas Radio primarily spotlighted the recordings of Texas musicians, but occasionally featured a live guest or broadcast interviews taped by others. Monroe joined Sun Radio in 2011 and brought his programs, Blue Monday and Phil Music, with him, and also desired to bring back his Texas Radio program. Sun Radio founder, Daryl O’Neal responded to this by suggesting they create a live version of it. O’Neal then pitched the idea to Rob Lippincott, owner of Guero’s Taco Bar, who was thrilled at the idea of having Larry Monroe doing a program from Guero’s. Monroe then solicited the help of David Arnsberger… and Texas Radio Live was re-born! Texas Radio Live continues today after Monroe’s untimely death in January 2014; veteran Austin broadcaster Chris Mosser now carries the torch from Half Step on Rainey Street.

The Sun Radio Recharge program has enabled Sun Radio to provide financial relief to local musicians through deferring the costs of electricity bills and paying artists to perform.
