From indie folk-pop to country rock, Austin’s music scene continues to shine. This week’s Loris’ DEBUT at NOON showcases Mayeux & Broussard, Madam Radar, Kat Edmonson, Amy Atchley and Shakey Graves. Here are their brand-new tracks.

Eat My Thunder – Mayeux & Broussard

Based in Austin, Texas, Mayeux & Broussard is a duo making country, blues, and Americana music. The band was formed in the summer of 2011 and continues to release new albums fifteen years later. The band is led by Tate Mayeux and Brian Broussard, who are the singers and songwriters, while Taylor Englert is the drummer and James Moritz the bassist. The band has distinguished itself through hard-edged songs played with gritty intensity. Eat My Thunder is a folk song with light-hearted lyrics and positive energy, representing a battle for identity. It reflects personal growth and boosts confidence. If you were looking for a motivating song to start the day, you’ve found it.

Lil Cold – Madam Radar

Madam Radar is an Austin-based rock band known for its explosive harmonies and eclectic original tunes. The group consists of both family and friends including Kody Lee, who is Violet Lea’s husband and Kelly Green’s brother, and Jace Calde, Kelly Green’s husband. The group released its first album, The Texas KGB, ten years ago and continues to please our ears with new songs. Lil Cold, composed by Kody Lee and sung by Jace Cadle, depicts a cold yet bright summer night. The music tells the story of the victim of a toxic love relationship, using metaphors to convey what this love feels like. Kelly Green’s guitar solo deepens the mood, adding a haunting intensity that perfectly complements the song’s emotional atmosphere.

The Line – Kat Edmonson

Born in Houston, Kat Edmonson has been passionate about music from a very young age. Eager to pursue a career in the field, she moved to Austin in 2002. Not only is she a singer-songwriter of jazz and pop, she has also appeared in several television shows and films. Her song The Line perfectly showcases her vocal abilities. The lyrics, very personal to her, plunge us into a wave of deep emotions and love, while the “line” seems to represent the shield she created to protect her heart. The music gently carries us with its peaceful, slow melody, reminiscent of a lullaby.

Games and Magic – Amy Atchley

Amy Atchley is an indie-pop songwriter from Austin, known for her ethereal and incandescent vocals, as well as her catchy melodies. She has been voted Best in the Pop Band and Female Vocals categories in the Austin Chronicle Music Awards. She is also known for her song Sometimes a Woman is King, which explores themes of strength, empowerment and sisterhood. Her upcoming release, Games and Magic, showcases Amy’s powerful vocals in a compelling narration of a complex emotional landscape, exploring the tensions between intimacy and distance in a complicated relationship. Be ready to add it to your playlist on the 20th of this month!

When the Love is New – Shakey Graves

Born Alejandro Rose-Garcia, Shakey Graves is an American musician and actor from Austin, Texas, who has performed at many major festivals across the U.S. His music blends country, blues, folk, and rock and roll. His song When the Love Is New describes the transition from a new relationship to fading love. With a melody that drifts between melancholy and nostalgia, the track explores the different emotions at the start of a romantic journey. The acoustic guitar and soft vocals create a soothing atmosphere that gradually deepens, drawing listeners into every note.
