Remembering Texas French Bread Bakery

The Texas French Bread bakery, an Austin institution near the University of Texas campus burned down Monday into Tuesday night. It’s been a beloved staple in Austin (celebrating it’s 40th year in business this year) with many taking to social media to remember what the bakery meant to them (see below.) Back in the 1970’s, the building was the Rome Inn before becoming a bakery, where artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan would play. A GoFundMe was created to help out the staff. The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental and due to a mechanical failure.
