SUMMARY:Charley Crockett New Year's Eve Show
DESCRIPTION:Charley Crockett kicks off 2025 at ACL Live with a New Year’s Eve performance featuring a live midnight countdown\, balloon drop\, champagne toast\, and more!  \nHailed as a “must-see live performer” by Rolling Stone\, and a “force to be reckoned with” by CMT\, Charley Crockett crafts his singular “Gulf & Western” sound — described as “very 21st century and very vintage” by NPR Music — by synthesizing country\, blues\, soul\, Cajun\, R&B and other pieces of American Roots music. And when his voice comes out of your speakers\, there is no confusing him for any other artist. As the Wall Street Journal writes\, “Mr. Crockett’s unique vocal style is one third Ernest Tubb honky-tonk with clipped-word diction\, one third Bill Withers low-key\, soulful crooning\, and one third jazzy French Quarter second-line swagger.” \nWith his latest album $10 Cowboy\, Crockett didn’t set out to make a themed record. He had released a concept album in 2022\, the critically acclaimed The Man From Waco\, propelling Crockett to new heights and establishing him as one of the leaders of a sparkling revival of traditional country and folk music. \nFor the follow up album\, Crockett wrote freely\, over a two-month period\, as he wound his way across the United States on the back of a tour bus. The resulting songs—raw\, personal\, vivid portraits of a country in transition—ended up being connected after all. \n“This material is written at truck stops\, it’s written at casinos\, it’s written in the alleys behind the venues\, it’s written in my truck parked up on South Congress in Austin\,” explains Crockett. “A ramblin’ man like me\, a genuine transient\, is in a pretty damn good position to have something to say about America.” \nThe album begins with the title track\, a personal song that also offers a provocative idea about America. “A $10 Cowboy is a country singer who made himself on a street corner in America\,” Crockett says. “But the cowboy way\, the cowboy mindset\, that applies to anyone who doesn’t feel free\, who feels fenced in and bound to something.” \nAs the album unfolds\, you begin to understand that a $10 Cowboy is anyone who has hustled to get by\, who didn’t fit in\, who has slept on other people’s couches\, or the street\, who has fallen down\, gotten up\, and ventured from home chasing a paying gig\, or a new start. \nThe album was recorded at Arlyn Studios in Austin\, produced by Crockett and his long-time collaborator Billy Horton. It was recorded live to tape\, with anywhere from 6-12 musicians on each track\, giving the songs the feel of a live performance. It’s a sound Crockett has been after for years. “The reason I cut it on tape is\, when you get the right folks in the room\, great players rise to the occasion. When that red light is on and the tape is rolling\, you get the magic of a performance.” \nCrockett released his last full-length album The Man From Waco – which Rolling Stone named the #2 best Country album of the year – in 2022\, and the momentum he built continued into 2023. Crockett made his NPR Tiny Desk debut\, was a guest on The Daily Show\, and appeared on the June 2023 cover of Texas Monthly. Crockett performed at both nights of Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl in April 2023\, and made his Bonnaroo debut last summer. Crockett also released The Man From Waco Redux\, a companion to The Man From Waco featuring alternate versions of five songs\, and Live from the Ryman\, which documented Crockett’s sold out November 2022 debut at the Mother Church of Country Music.

SUMMARY:JJ Grey & Mofro – Olustee
DESCRIPTION:“JJ Grey & Mofro – Olustee \n\n\nBio written by Marc Lipkin \n  \n“Impassioned singing\, riff-based Southern rock\, cold blooded swamp funk and sly Memphis soul…Rich\, funky blues celebrate life’s most fundamental joys. Grey is a singer-songwriter with unforced talent and deep feeling.” –The New York Times \n“A deeply-rooted blend of southern-fried rock and swamp funk…richly evocative lyrics…plainspoken\, blue-collar American music.” –NPR \n“The swami of swamp rock…JJ Grey is a North Florida sage and purveyor of the funkiest swamp rock the world has ever heard…chicken-scratch guitar and bone-deep songs.” –Oxford American \n\nAccording to musician\, singer and artist JJ Grey\, “The best songs I’ve ever written\, I never wrote. They wrote themselves. The best show I ever played\, played itself and had little to do with me or talent. To me\, those things come from the power of an honest moment\, and I guess I’m trying to live in that power and not force life to cough up what I want.” \n\nSince his first album\, Blackwater\, back in 2001\, Grey has been releasing deeply moving\, masterfully written\, funkified rock and front porch Southern soul music. Now\, with his new album\, Olustee—his tenth and first in nine years\, and the first he has self-produced—Grey is back\, singing his personal stories with universal themes of redemption\, rebirth\, hard luck\, and inner peace. With his music\, Grey also celebrates good times with lifelong friends\, oftentimes mixing the carnal with the cerebral in the very same song. Fueled by his vividly detailed\, timeless originals spun from his own life and experiences in the Northern Florida swampland\, Grey’s gritty baritone drips with honest passion and testifies with a preacher’s foot-pounding fervor. \n\nWith Olustee\, JJ Grey has once again pushed the boundaries of his own creative musical\, lyrical and vocal talents\, delivering an album that is destined to become a stone-cold classic. Many of the songs are steeped in the mythical Southern stories of his ancestral Florida home and filled with people from JJ’s life. The songs overflow with the sights and sounds of the region as told through the eyes of a poet and sung with pure\, unvarnished soul. The album’s eleven songs range from the introspective opener The Sea to the raucous\, celebratory first radio single\, Wonderland\, to an escape from an out-of-control wildfire in the title track\, to the inward-looking closer\, Deeper Than Belief. Singing of his own personal triumphs and struggles\, his hopes and desires\, his friends and family\, Grey’s message is simple and strong: respect the natural world and always try to live in the moment. And never forget the importance of having a good time. \n\nGrey made his recording debut in 2001 with Blackwater\, following up in 2004 with Lochloosa. Both albums were released on the Fog City label under the name Mofro\, a moniker the young Grey chose to describe his music and sound while still working his day job at a lumberyard. He has since used the word to name his band of world-class players. In 2007\, Grey signed with Alligator Records and released a string of five popular and successful albums: 2007’s Country Ghetto\, 2008’s Orange Blossoms\, 2010’s Georgia Warhorse\, 2011’s live CD/DVD Brighter Days and 2013’s This River. Ol’ Glory was released on the Provogue label in 2015. Throughout this amazing run of releases\, press\, radio and years of touring helped catapult JJ Grey & Mofro further into the mainstream. \n\nJJ Grey & Mofro have played countless festivals\, including Lollapalooza\, Bonnaroo\, Wakarusa\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Byron Bay Blues Festival (Australia)\, Montreal Jazz Festival and Fuji Rock (Japan). Over the course of his career\, Grey has shared stages with the likes of Lenny Kravitz\, B.B. King\, The Allman Brothers Band\, The Black Crowes\, Los Lobos\, Jeff Beck\, Ben Harper\, Booker T. Jones\, Mavis Staples\, and many others. Grey and his band continue to play over 75 shows a year across the U.S. and around the world. \n\nJJ’s songs have appeared in films and on television\, including on House Of Cards\, Criminal Minds\, Bones\, House\, Flashpoint\, Crash\, Friday Night Lights\, The Glades\, The Deadliest Catch and in films including The Hoot and The Gray Man. In November 2009\, JJ wrote his first film score for the critically-acclaimed\, Emmy Award-winning documentary The Good Soldier\, which appeared in theatres and on Bill Moyers Journal on PBS. \n\nGrey\, an avid outdoorsman\, is a dedicated fisherman\, a skilled visual artist (he has designed and drawn the cover art on all of his albums)\, an expert surfer and he holds an honorary position on the board of the Angler Action Foundation\, dedicated to the protection of coastal fish and fish habitat. He has written passionately and articulately about his love for the untrammeled environment of his North Florida home and continues to advocate for its preservation. \n\nFrom his early days playing cover music behind chicken wire at a west side Jacksonville juke joint\, to playing sold-out shows at some of the largest venues and music festivals in the world\, JJ Grey has always delivered his soul-honest truths. Now\, with Olustee\, JJ Grey & Mofro will bring their music directly to fans as they hit the road for a massive months-long tour across the country and throughout the world. AllMusic says JJ Grey’s music is “as authentic as the ground under your feet because that’s where it comes from—just before it moves\, simply and directly\, through the body of the listener\, into the human heart.” \n\nDISCOGRAPHY:\n2024 Olustee (Alligator)\n2015 Ol’ Glory (Provogue)\n2013 This River (Alligator)\n2011 Brighter Days (Alligator)\n2010 Georgia Warhorse (Alligator)\n2009 The Choice Cuts (Alligator\, vinyl-only “Best Of”)\n2008 Orange Blossoms (Alligator)\n2007 Country Ghetto (Alligator)\n2004 Lochloosa (Fog City)\n2001 Blackwater (Fog City) \n  \nAlligator Records\, LLC \nP.O. SUMMARY:Silverada | The Nightowls: Texas Radio Live
DESCRIPTION:Silverada\n“Evolution. It’s what keeps the best bands afloat — song after song\, show after show\, record after record. \nMike Harmeier was still in his early 20s when he formed Mike and the Moonpies. From the start\, they were the definition of a workingman’s country band\, cutting their teeth with five-hour sets on Austin’s dancehall circuit before spreading their music to the rest of America. By the early 2020s\, they’d become global ambassadors of homegrown Texas music\, flying their flag everywhere from Abbey Road Studios (where they recorded 2019’s Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold with help from the London Symphony Orchestra) to the Grand Ole Opry. \nThe growth was remarkable\, but all that momentum left Harmeier and his four bandmates — drummer Taylor Englert\, guitarist Catlin Rutherford\, bassist Omar Oyoque\, and steel guitarist Zachary Moulton — looking for something new. After all\, their music had decidedly changed. Why shouldn’t their name do the same? \nSilverada marks a new chapter in the band’s history. It’s not just the title of the boldest release of the group’s critically-acclaimed career; it’s also the name of the reinvigorated band itself. \n“Back in the day\, all we wanted to do was play the Broken Spoke\,” says Harmeier\, nodding to the hometown honky-tonk in Austin\, TX\, where Silverada began sowing the seeds for a sound that mixed timeless twang with modern-day dynamics. “We had different aspirations back then. We were still figuring out what kind of band we were gonna be\, and that took a lot of time and a lot of records.” \nA lot of records\, indeed. Silverada marks the group’s ninth release\, and it balances the strengths they’ve accumulated along the way — sharp\, detailed songwriting that bounces between autobiographical sketches and character studies; gorgeous swells of pedal steel that drift through the songs like weather; a rhythm section capable of country shuffles\, hard-charging rock & roll tempos\, and everything in between — with a willingness to break old rules and open new doors. “Radio Wave” is a roots-rock anthem for the highway and the heartland\, peppered with Springsteen-worthy hooks and War On Drugs-inspired atmospherics. “Eagle Rare” launches the band into outer space during its explosive middle section\, which the band improvised in the recording studio. “Stay By My Side” showcases Silverada’s road-warrior credentials — the band recorded the track live during a tour across the American Southeast\, capturing it in a single take at Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon\, Georgia — while “Wallflower” blends the organic with the otherworldly\, finding room for harmonized guitar solos\, driving disco beats\, and 808 percussion. \n“Going into the studio\, everybody in the band felt inspired to do something bigger than what they’d done before\,” Harmeier explains. “We all knew we were at a precipice\, and we wanted to jump. I brought in some songs that were metaphorical and not always straightforward\, and that showed the guys that I wanted to take this music somewhere new… so they threw their own rulebooks out the window\, too.” \nHarmeier wrote the bulk of Silverada in his backyard studio\, surrounded by dozens of books he’d picked up at a local Goodwill. “We’d been on tour for so long\, playing the same set for almost two years\, and I wanted to write something that was a departure\,” he remembers. Jeff Tweedy’s books on songwriting were a big help\, but Harmeier pushed himself to get weird\, too\, finding inspiration in everything from astronomy texts to sci-fi novels. “I would read some\, work a little bit\, read some more\, and work a little more\,” he says of the creative process. “I spent a full month in that studio\, going there every night\, making word ladders and highlighting lines and learning to free write.” \nRecorded at Yellow Dog Studios with longtime producer/collaborator Adam Odor\, Silverada propels the band forward without losing sight of their roots. “Stubborn Son” — a loving\, unsparing sketch of the family patriarch who set Harmeier’s creativity in motion — unfolds like a close cousin to Steak Night at the Prairie Rose’s title track\, laced with fiddle solos from longtime George Strait collaborator Gene Elders. “Doing It Right” channels the same throwback\, slow-dance ambiance that informed 2019’s “You Look Good in Neon.” “Load Out\,” which chronicles the grind of blue-collar jobs both on and off the road\, could’ve found a home on 2021’s One To Grow On. \nThere’s a smart sense of history here — a celebration not only of where the band is headed\, where they’ve been\, too. Even so\, Silverada doesn’t spend much time looking in the rearview mirror. Instead\, it keeps its gaze focused on the road ahead. This is a snapshot of a band in motion\, chasing down the next horizon\, writing the soundtrack to some new discovery. It’s the sound of alchemy\, of some new metal being forged. And like silver itself\, Silverada shines brightly. \n“We spent the first part of our career figuring out who we are and what we’re good at\,” says Harmeier. “Now we want to evolve not only the sound of the band\, but the dynamic of the live show\, too. We’re all lifers here. We’re in this for the long haul. Silverada is us setting the stage for the next leg of the journey.”” \n\nSilverada.com\n\nThe Nightowls\n“Sure to get you on your feet” (Southern Living)\, Austin’s “vintage soul” (Allmusic) ten piece The Nightowls’ live show is the sound of a soulful swing dance combined with the non-stop energy of a southern hoedown\, encouraging audience participation that will “certainly inspire one to shake a tail feather” (Music Connection). They’ve spent the past year bringing their “raucous live show” (Austin Monthly) across the US and the Festival Circuit. \nIn the past two years they’ve hit every corner of North America\, played dozens of festivals (including Austin City Limits Festival\, KGSR Unplugged at the Grove\, Ouray Mountain Air Music Series\, The Levitt Pavilion\, Blues on the Green\, and headlined the Double Decker Festival).\n“This is truly a must see act. All their songs have one thing in common\, and that is they make you want to get up and dance the night away” – Monkey Goose Magazine \nTheir last record\, Royal Sessions (EP) came out July 15th\, 2016. It has been hailed by many critics as their finest. Their new album with producer Chris Bell comes out April 27th\, 2018 on Nine Mile Records.” \n-Spotify.com

SUMMARY:Bob Schneider & The Moonlight Orchestra Valentine's Day Concert
DESCRIPTION:“Bob Schneider has reigned as a de facto king of the Austin music scene for a couple of decades now\, and while no one stays on top forever\, the man shows no signs of decay in quality or creativity. Schneider is the city’s genius chameleon\, mixing pop\, hip-hop\, folk and biting humor with essential melodies and bloody brilliant lyrics. His joys and heartbreaks\, laid bare in song\, help us understand our own. \nSchneider has been a recording artist for 25 years\, putting out his first record (“Party Till You’re Dead”) in 1991 as frontman for Joe Rockhead\, a funk-rock combo in the vein of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. That band was followed by his best-known group\, Ugly Americans\, which toured with the Dave Matthews Band and Big Head Todd and the Monsters. Ugly Americans was a kind of alt-rock supergroup\, with former members of Cracker\, Poi Dog Pondering and Mojo Nixon’s band. \nSchneider also fronted a full-on funk ensemble that played around Austin in the late 1990s called The Scabs\, at the same time he was establishing himself as a solo artist. His first solo project\, “Songs Sung and Played on Guitar at the Same Time\,” came out in 1998\, and he’s gone on to record an almost inconceivably diverse and eclectic array of songs since then\, with his work making it onto the soundtracks of seven major motion pictures (and one indie film). \nAll told\, Schneider has been the singer and main songwriter on nearly 30 studio albums\, and he has been named Musician of the Year six times at the Austin Music Awards. Considering the renowned strength of the music scene in Austin\, that’s saying something. His artistry coupled with his movie-star looks and boyish charm makes it a wonder he’s not a household name around the rest of the country the way he is in Austin. \nHis prodigious musical output is a result of a songwriting challenge group he started 16 years ago while touring. At first\, the challenge was to write one song a day\, and the people doing the writing were on the tour bus with him. They’d come up with a title each morning and at the end of the day play the songs they came up with for each other. \nThe pace of the songwriting challenge has eased up substantially since its beginnings\, going to one song a week\, but the scope of the participation in the group has widened to include a lot of widely known musicians. \n“We’ve had lots of famous folks in the game from time to time\, but they usually don’t last very long\,” Schneider says. “The exception would be Jason Mraz\, who has been in the game on and off for six or seven years and is one of the most consistent songwriters in the group. Very talented and will always turn a song in. At the end of the day\, though\, I really only have the group as a motivation to get me to write a song each week. Otherwise\, a month might go by without writing anything and that would be a shame.” \nThe past few years\, Schneider has grouped the songs he’s written in a year under an album title\, just to kind of keep track of when they were written. Titles for recent years have included “Here’s the Deal\,” “The Ever Increasing Need to Succeed\,” “Into the Great Unknown” and “Mental Problems.” This year’s theme (and the name of his current concert tour) is “The Practical Guide to Everything.” \nSchneider has a fantastic website where fans can listen to all of the songs from the three fivesong “King Kong Suite” EPs he released last year\, with humorous commentary from Schneider himself between songs. The website also has the 10 videos he created for “King Kong” songs using public-domain found footage\, including the menacing “Black Mountain” video that culls scenes from Francis Ford Coppola’s directorial debut. \nThe website also offers a chance to stream his regular Monday evening shows at Austin’s Saxon Pub. \n“The Saxon Pub shows are unique in the fact that I play a lot of material there that I don’t play anywhere else\,” Schneider explains. “New stuff that I wrote that week or in the last few weeks. Really old material that we haven’t played in a while. I hardly play any of the stuff that you’ll hear on the road\, which is a mix of the best of everything. The best new material alongside the best of my last 20 years of writing songs.” \n…He has an almost Dylanesque reputation for keeping things fresh\, with shows so different from one another that for years he [has] recorded every show and…[sold] copies for people to purchase right after the show. \n“I play a lot of cities twice a year\, and I like the fact that a lot of my fans will come see me play every time I come to town\, knowing that I’ll be playing material they’ve never seen me perform and might not ever perform again\,” Schneider says. “I don’t have any of the banter planned either\, so that stuff is usually unique to that night as well. It keeps things fresh for me and allows me to play crowd favorites that I’ve been playing for years\, but still makes the whole thing feel new overall for me and hopefully for the audience.”” \n\nAxs.com

SUMMARY:The Robert Cray Band
DESCRIPTION:The Robert Cray Band\n50th Anniversary Tour\nThe Paramount Theatre\nFriday\, February 28\, 2025 \nDoors: 7pm\nShow: 8pm \nBlues icon. Soul man. Rock and roller. Robert Cray is all these things–and more. Across the past half century Robert Cray’s developed into one of American music’s most singular artists. From forming a teenage garage band\, through to striding the stage alongside several of the world’s greatest guitarists\, Robert Cray’s story is one of struggle and commitment. Struggle and commitment that led to Cray enjoying phenomenal success–selling millions of albums and countless concert tickets\, winning five Grammy Awards\, being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame\, recipient of the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award\, designing two signature model Fender guitars–yet for Robert what’s always mattered most is the music. \nAcross five decades Robert Cray has created a richly inclusive American music\, revitalizing both blues and soul while rocking hard with the very best. To achieve 50 years in the music industry and still be as fresh and committed as when starting out is an achievement few can boast of but Cray can: he has released 19 studio albums\, every one replete with his extremely distinctive songs\, and continues to make music that sounds like no one but Robert Cray. “All these years we have been fortunate to do what we love doing\, playing the music we love playing\,” says Cray with a smile. “I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

SUMMARY:The Point | Lisa Morales: Texas Radio Live
DESCRIPTION:The Point\nLisa Morales\n“Measured in calendar years\, not to mention the wisdom and insight of a full-grown woman and artist seasoned by experiences ranging from triumph to heartbreak and back again\, the Lisa Morales heard on her fourth solo album\, Sonora (out Sept. 13\, 2024 on Luna Records) is decades removed from the precocious niñita\, not yet in grade school\, who used to sing mariachi songs with her sister Roberta at Mexican restaurants when they were growing up in Tucson\, Arizona. But measure that span between then and now by melody and memory\, and the distance shrinks to a heartbeat.“We sang in Spanish before we sang English\,” Morales says of the Mexican music that soundtracked and informed her life “from being a toddler on up” — all the way up\, in fact\, to the present day. Lisa and Roberta sang that music not just at restaurants at their father’s behest\, but at every family gathering (“practically bi-weekly\,” she laughs)\, together with their parents and grandparents\, aunts and uncles\, and cousins by the dozens. And on the rare occasions when they weren’t singing themselves\, they still marinated in the music daily\, from the beautiful boleros on the family turntable to endless hours of Sonoran rancheras (“Mexican country music\,” as Lisa calls it) on the radio. Of course there was plenty of non-Spanish music in that formative air\, too; an older brother had a rock band\, and one of those many cousins just happened to be Linda Ronstadt. But the music of her mother’s homeland south of the border always permeated the deepest.“All of that Mexican music\, it’s the fiber of who I am\,” says Morales\, now a veteran Texas-based singer-songwriter with a storied performance history and a deep catalog spanning rock\, country\, folk\, and Americana. And though a lot of her original music — both from the years she spent building an international following with Roberta as the acclaimed duo Sisters Morales and throughout the solo career she officially launched in 2011 — has been in English\, Lisa has long maintained that “everything just comes from a deeper place when I’m singing in Spanish.” Fans of Sisters Morales seemed to concur\, with 2002’s all-Spanish Para Gloria being one of the duo’s most popular albums. But it wasn’t until her second solo album\, 2018’s Luna Negra and the Daughter of the Sun\, that the muse first moved her to explore the untapped wellspring of a third tongue she’d been fluent in her entire life\, but had never consciously incorporated into her songwriting: Spanglish.“It was completely unconscious at the time; all these phrases in English were coming out as if they were written in Spanish because of the order of the words\,” she recalls. “But that’s when I thought\, ‘Oh\, I’m stumbling onto something here\, when I’m writing in Spanish and English together.’ And it just became a part of me that I didn’t acknowledge before.”Marrying different genres — Mexican and American\, traditional and contemporary — had long been part of her wheelhouse\, especially in Sisters Morales. On Luna Negra\, 2022’s She Ought to Be King and now Sonora\, her vibrant melange of musical flavors and different languages (even if not always within the same song) is artful enough to distinguish Morales’ embrace of “Spanglish” not just as part of the mix but as practically a genre unto itself.” \n\nLisamoralesmusic.com

SUMMARY:The Tiarras | Natalie Price: Texas Radio Live
DESCRIPTION:The Tiarras\nMeet The Tiarras: Tori\, Sophia\, and Tiffany Baltierra\, a dynamic trio of multifaceted artists who effortlessly blend genres and cultural influences to create global music that knows no boundaries. Sisters turned bandmates\, The Tiarras have embarked on a journey that defies conventions and embraces sonic exploration. \nHailing from a Mexican-American heritage\, The Tiarras draws from the rich tapestry of musical diversity surrounding their upbringing. Their vibrant compositions seamlessly weave together elements of rock\, Latin\, pop\, soul\, reggae\, and blues\, resulting in an eclectic yet refined sound that challenges the very notion of genre. \nFuelled by a passion for community and inclusivity\, The Tiarras’ music is a conduit for spreading positive energy and empowering messages. Their tracks\, like “Soy Chingona” and “Let Love Free\,” resonate far and wide\, gaining recognition on prestigious platforms including NPR Alt.Latino\, Mitú\, Grimy Goods\, and the Texas Standard. \nHaving graced stages internationally\, including notable performances at SXSW Sydney International\, and ACL Fest 2024\, The Tiarras look ahead to a future brimming with promise. \nCommitted to releasing more original music that defies expectations and embraces their global influences\, their journey is one of breaking boundaries\, sparking positive change\, and leaving an indelible mark on the music landscape. \nFor more information\, visit https://www.thetiarras.com/. \nNatalie Price\n“‘Ameri-kinda.’ That’s how Natalie Price describes her music\, a combination of catchy melodies and smooth\, clear vocals that fit firmly into the Americana genre\, with a quirkiness weaved into her lyrics that bends toward indie-folk. \nOn the fittingly self-titled Natalie Price\, she explores complex emotions and experiences through relatable\, confessional tales in the singularly authentic manner that has garnered her recognition around Austin as one of the city’s most up-and-coming singer-songwriters. \n‘Natalie has the distinct ability to blend lyrics of depth and feeling with absolute ear-worms of melody\,’ says Ben Jones of Beet Root Revival\, one of Price’s many supporters\, ‘There are always little nuggets of wisdom.’ \nBorn in Fort Worth\, Texas\, Price’s early exposure to music was mainly church gospel tunes and contemporary Christian radio. Looking back\, she describes her writing as a reaction to the shiny\, glossy\, Christian culture songs she was surrounded by; ‘Christian music tends to get tied up with a perfect bow at the end\,’ she says\, ‘But that’s not how life actually is. Not everything gets resolved.’ \nWhen Price moved to Austin\, she found a community of musicians and songwriters who showed her that playing music could actually be a real profession. ‘I always had the drive to play music\,’ says Price\, ‘but my family never really understood what I would do with that. So I initially had a hard time wrapping my head around it too.'” \n\nSpotify.com

SUMMARY:Parker Woodland | The Lockhearts: Texas Radio Live
DESCRIPTION:Parker Woodland\n“THE STORY OF PARKER WOODLAND: Parker Woodland is the power trio of founder Erin Walter (vocals\, bass)\, Andrew Solin (guitar)\, and Keri Cinquina (drums). The band formed almost accidentally\, in 2018\, when Walter and some neighbors got together to jam in a church where one of them worked as music director. What could’ve been a musical one-nighter ended up sparking something too magical to dismiss. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe early incarnation of the band saw Dan McMonigle (Strait Music tech and Berklee music grad) bringing a haunting alt-country sound to his and Erin’s shared Riot Fest underpinnings. DJ/artist Ralph Cutler also helped found the band\, contributing drums\, art\, and backing vocals to the debut EP (recorded in one seize-the-moment day and engineered by Jonas Wilson at the Pink Room in Bastrop\, Texas). A varied crew of friends contribute to Parker Woodland recordings and celebratory live experience. \nParker Woodland was born to the outside world in Fall 2019\, with a handful of unforgettable\, sweat-soaked shows at Austin venues the Nomad\, Hotel Vegas\, Hole in the Wall\, and Batch. The band had a blast shooting a video for lead single “The World’s On Fire (and We Still Fall in Love)\,” filling Erin’s house with friends one last time just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. \nAustin artists Sam Hensley\, Melissa Bryan (The Shindigs)\, Katy Koonce (Butch County)\, Simone Monique Barnes\, Preston Patterson (Ballet Austin)\, Richard Whymark (A Curious Mix of People zine\, The Good Music Club)\, Ike and Wendy Eickstaedt\, Davis Comeau (Militant Babies)\, and under-18 band Haunted Hollows have all joined in the creative process\, to bring the energy of meaning it to life. Parker Woodland is proudly part of the Girls Rock family\, with Erin a former co-president of the Girls Rock Austin board. \nThe COVID-19 pandemic was a heartbreaker for musicians\, and Parker Woodland is no exception. “We miss the stage. We miss our fellow bands. We miss everyone\,” Erin wrote in 2020.” But the forced downtime also brought an array of creative opportunities\, with Parker Woodland playing livestream benefits\, community events\, podcasts\, and making time to release the new EP and a video trilogy of “Band Life in the Beforetimes.” Erin took the music on a 150-stop virtual tour from her house. And of course\, there’s nothing like the apocalypse to inspire songwriting. “The World’s on Fire (and We Still Fall in Love)” is a fiery start — and it’s only the beginning. \nIn 2022 and 2023\, Parker Woodland played shows for renowned Austin radio station KUTX\, a South By Southwest showcase and big Rock the Park event. Next Parker Woodland celebrated a double single on Sept. 1\, 2023\, with a release party at Chess Club in Austin. \nParker Woodland signed with Flak Records and released their first full-length album\, THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS TIME\, released Sept. 6\, 2024! Parker Woodland has been announced as a SXSW 2025 Official Artist!” \n\nParkerwoodland.com\n\n\nThe Lockhearts\n“Hailing from the heart of Texas\, The Lockhearts have been making music together since they could talk. This country sister duo first expressed their love for lyric and song when they penned a tune together at the tender ages of 5 and 7\, and from there\, they never looked back. By 10 and 12\, Paige and Kate were strumming chords on their ukuleles and guitars\, infusing their tunes with all the matters of their life\, heart\, and soul. \nFor the past seven years\, The Lockhearts have been on a journey to perfect their craft\, dedicating countless hours to writing\, refining\, and performing their songs. Along the way\, Paige and Kate have been grateful to have captured the attention of both Grammy nominees and winners who have generously given their time and talent to collaborate with Paige and Kate on a few of their writing projects. \nNow\, at the ages of 17 and 19\, the two sisters are thrilled to finally debut their music to the world.” \n\nThelockhearts.com

SUMMARY:Suzanna Choffel | Deer Fellow: Texas Radio Live
DESCRIPTION:Suzanna Choffel\n” \nKnown for her distinct voice and reggae-inspired guitar technique\, Austin native Suzanna Choffel’s music has been described as “a unique sound equal parts Beat poetry\, smoky soul grooves and indie-pop eccentricity.” (Jim Derogatis). Having made appearances at ACL Music Fest\, SXSW\, Voodoo Fest\, as well as on screen in movies like “Catfish” and NBC’s The Voice (earning singular praise from Rolling Stone as “the only artist you’d want to listen to a complete album from”)\, Choffel feels equally at home singing in a dimly lit club as she does front and center in front of (literally) millions. \nOver the course of her two decade career Choffel has shared the stage with a diverse array of artists like Buena Vista Social Club\, Suzanne Vega\, Crystal Gayle\, Solange\, Carrie Rodriguez\, Davíd Garza and many others. As a songwriter she has won multiple awards in both the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Contest and her albums have appeared on top 10 lists across Texas. \nChoffel was born and raised in Austin and cut her teeth as a teenager singing in beloved hometown haunts like Saxon Pub and Broken Spoke. She moved away to Santa Fe to study music at a small “hippie college” as she likes to call it\, improving her guitar & songwriting chops\, moved back to Austin & recorded her first album Shudders & Rings and hit the clubs hard\, developing a following at places like Momo’s\, Strange Brew\, (both have closed) and Cactus Cafe. She started to appear on many “one to watch” lists in Austin & in 2009 won Best Indie Band at Austin Music Awards. \nSince that time life has had huge changes for her; she did a short stint on reality tv (NBC’s The Voice)\, moved to New York\, toured in France\, gave birth to two daughters\, recorded & released two more albums\, toured internationally and became a radio personality/DJ on Austin’s Sun Radio (100.1FM). Her unique “radio” voice landed her a gig as the voice of Whataburger in 2023. \nChoffel released her fourth studio album Bird by Bird on Sept 27th\, 2024. Choffel teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Davíd Garza for Bird by Bird\, which was recorded in both Los Angeles and the Sonic Ranch studio complex outside of El Paso. The album does keep its Austin bona fides: Adrian Quesada\, of the Black Pumas and Grupo Fantasma\, and fiddle phenoms Carrie Rodriguez and Warren Hood play on the album.” \n-SuzannaChoffel.com \nDeer Fellow\n“Deer Fellow is an indie pop/folk duo with “comforting yet bold musicality.” Based out of Austin\, bandmates Matt Salois (vocals\, guitar) and Alyssa Kelly (vocals\, violin\, keys) have built a cross-genre sound that “stirs hearts with each carefully crafted note.” \n“It’s hard to tell where the duo behind Deer Fellow ends and the other begins. Matt and Alyssa’s voices\, like instruments\, interchange\, blend\, rise and fall in ways that few duos can achieve. If listeners are lucky enough to catch a live show\, they’d be forgiven for mistaking the pair for a full band upon first note. Matt’s guitar looping techniques\, skillful chord progressions\, and percussive elements\, along with Alyssa’s synth backgrounds and bell-clear violin\, produce a fulsome sound that is far from the typical duo most listeners have come to expect.” – EASTside Magazine \nThe two’s intricate vocal harmonies and unique guitar-violin blends have earned them Official SXSW status\, a Sonic Guild grant\, and features in Earmilk and Austin-American Statesman.” \n-DeerFellow.com

SUMMARY:Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
DESCRIPTION:A Jason Isbell record always lands like a decoder ring in the ears and hearts of his audience\, a soundtrack to his world and magically to theirs\, too. Weathervanes carries the same revelatory power. This is a storyteller at the peak of his craft\, observing his fellow wanderers\, looking inside and trying to understand\, reducing a universe to four minutes. He shrinks life small enough to name the fear and then strip it away\, helping his listeners make sense of how two plus two stops equaling four once you reach a certain age — and carry a certain amount of scars. \n“There is something about boundaries on this record\,” Isbell says. “As you mature\, you still attempt to keep the ability to love somebody fully and completely while you’re growing into an adult and learning how to love yourself.” \nWeathervanes is a collection of grown-up songs: Songs about adult love\, about change\, about the danger of nostalgia and the interrogation of myths\, about cruelty and regret and redemption. Life and death songs played for and by grown ass people. Some will make you cry alone in your car and others will make you sing along with thousands of strangers in a big summer pavilion\, united in the great miracle of being alive. The record features the rolling thunder of Isbell’s fearsome 400 Unit\, who’ve earned a place in the rock ‘n’ roll cosmos alongside the greatest backing ensembles\, as powerful and essential to the storytelling as The E Street Band or the Wailers. \nThey make a big noise\, as Isbell puts it\, and he feels so comfortable letting them be a main prism through which much of the world hears his art. He can be private but with them behind him he transforms\, and there is a version of himself that can only exist in their presence. When he plays a solo show\, he is in charge of the entire complicated juggle. On stage with the 400 Unit\, he can be a guitar hero when he wants\, and a conductor when he wants\, and a smiling fan of the majesty of his bandmates when he wants to hang back and listen to the sound. \nThe roots of this record go back into the isolation of the pandemic and to Isbell’s recent time on the set as an actor on Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. There were guitars in his trailer and in his rented house and a lot of time to sit and think. The melancholy yet soaring track “King of Oklahoma” was written there. Isbell also watched the great director work\, saw the relationship between a clear vision and its execution\, and perhaps most important\, saw how even someone as decorated as Scorsese sought out and used his co-workers’ opinions. \n“It definitely helped when I got into the studio\,” Isbell says. “I had this reinvigorated sense of collaboration. You can have an idea and you can execute it and not compromise — and still listen to the other people in the room.”

SUMMARY:St Vincent
DESCRIPTION:“Annie Clark made her recorded debut as St. Vincent in 2007 with Marry Me\, quickly becoming regarded as one of the most innovative and fascinating presences in modern music. Her subsequent albums would include Actor (2009)\, Strange Mercy (2011)\, her self-titled fourth album and winner of the 2014 GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album. In 2017\, her fifth album MASSEDUCTION would break St. Vincent into the U.S. and UK top 10s and win two more GRAMMYs (Best Rock Song for its title track\, and Best Recording Package). 2021’s Daddy’s Home found St. Vincent channeling the hungover glamor and gritty sepia-toned soundtrack of 1970s downtown NYC to an ecstatic reception\, ultimately winning her a second Best Alternative Album GRAMMY. Following a 2021-2022 global tour that reaffirmed St. Vincent’s status as one of live music’s preeminent forces with headline appearances at the likes of the Hollywood Bowl and Radio City Music Hall\, Clark would begin work on album number seven: Her first fully self-produced album (having co-produced every one of her previous efforts)\, All Born Screaming is St. Vincent at her most primal. Featuring Clark leading “a curated group of rippers” through the brawny “Broken Man\,” the mordant catwalk sashay through the deafening assault of self-loathing that is “Big Time Nothing\,” the sublime\, elegiac earworm “Sweetest Fruit\,” All Born Screaming is equal parts spiritual desolation and rapturous acceptance” \n-Spotify.com

SUMMARY:Lesly Reynaga | Johnny Goudie: Texas Radio Live
DESCRIPTION:Lesly Reynaga \n“Latin pop trailblazer Lesly Reynaga’s dazzling debut album “Valerosa” captures a unique\, modern\, mariachi-influenced pop sound that has made waves from Austin City Limits Music Festival to Lollapalooza. The Mexican-born\, Texas-based artist is making a striking first impression as a “one-of-a-kind” artist\, claims Stax Records/Motown legend Al Bell\, while earning the reputation of an artist with the potential to be a breakout star. \nNational press gushed about her recent Lollapalooza performance\, describing her set’s “sultry charm\,” “unique sound” and “bright\, mesmerizing\, volcanic burst of passion.” “Valerosa\,” released in partnership with Spaceflight Records\, is brimming with infectious dance beats and compelling lyricism\, including “A Lo Alto\,” a breakout single on KUTX 98.9. \n“Valerosa” features a production team led by Nick Clark (Kanye West\, Janelle Monáe)\, Andrew Schindler\, Nate Villegas and Reynaga with Billy Hickey\, mixing (Ariana Grande\, Lana Del Rey)\, Jett Galindo\, mastering (Selena Gomez) and was recorded at Austin’s Orb Studios. \nAlready considered an important figure by ethnomusicologists for bridging a musical terrain that connects the dots from Lydia Mendoza to Lola Beltrán to Linda Ronstadt to her own contemporary beat-driven sound\, Reynaga is called a new “stalwart of Mexican American music” in the new volume\, “Corazón Abierto: Mexican American Voices in Texas Music.” \nReynaga blends a timeless voice and an old soul’s perspective with Latin pop designs. On “Valerosa\,” the young Mexican immigrant reflects on the spirit and experiences of Latin Americans across the ages\, of their legacy of suffering\, heartbreak\, survival and hope. Inspired by these roots\, her songs celebrate Mesoamerica’s cultural endurance despite a history of exploitation. She asserts that through music—distinctly mariachi—she can discover an elusive identity. With themes ranging from calls-to-political action to meditations on magical realism to musings on her spiritual relationship to nature\, Reynaga writes on her own initiative. \nHer Austin City Limits Music Festival performance in 2022 garnered high praise\, including the Austin American-Statesman’s assertion that her “performance certainly was among the most colorful at the festival\, serenading the crowd with songs built on engaging Latin rhythms and the horns-and-strings accents of her mariachi compatriots.” And from Austin Vida\, “Reynaga blazed trails with a historic ACL Music Fest performance. The Mexican born singer-songwriter became one of the first artists in the festival’s history to feature a full mariachi band.” \nThe Monterrey\, Mexico native is also opening new horizons as an international music ambassador for Major League Soccer’s Austin FC and supporting numerous charities while musically being hailed by the Austin Chronicle as traversing “genre\, culture\, and language with transcendental grace like her predecessors Selena and Shakira did before her.” \nReynaga’s acclaimed 2019 “Dual Passport” EP delivered on the promise that led the Austin Chronicle to call her “one of Austin’s most formidable pop songwriters.” A highlight of the EP were recordings with her mentor\, Al Bell. “I have been associated with many rare and successful artists (from Otis Redding to Mavis Staples) that have excited me and that I’ve been proud of\,” said Bell\, who likens Reynaga’s talent to Prince\, who he worked with on the hit single\, “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.”  “But it is always a delightfully shocking phenomenon to me when I meet that artist that I can identify as the world’s next rare superstar.”” \n\nLeslyrenaga.com\n\n  \nJohnny Goudie \n  \n“Johnny Goudie is a singer\, songwriter\, multi-instrumental musician\, record producer and podcaster based in Austin\, Texas. Through his four-decade career\, Johnny’s musical experiences span the artistic gauntlet and include being the frontman of many bands including Goudie (Elektra Records)\, the guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist for renowned touring acts like Ian Moore\, Fastball\, Bodeans\, and more\, a songwriter working with the likes of Jane Wiedlin\, Charlotte Caffey and Kathy Valentine (Go-Go’s)\, a solo artist capable of revealing a previously unseen intimacy\, and of course\, keyboardist/vocalist/guitarist for SKYROCKET!. \nIn 2011 Johnny took his talents to the world of podcasting and launched “How Did I Get Here?”\, an audio segment that takes the form of a casual living room conversation while simultaneously packing the punch of a formal interview. With thousands of subscribers\, the show has garnered a worldwide fanbase through Johnny’s curiosity and disarming sense of humor. He’s hosted renowned guests like STYX\, Foghat\, Living Colour\, and Asleep At The Wheel\, as well as up and comers like Jackie Venson\, JaneLeo and others. What was first an archive of Austin music history is quickly becoming a chronicle of music beyond city limits. \nIn his quest to connect with\, and give back to the music community that raised him\, Johnny spent seven years creating and working with The Austin Music Foundation’s Artist Development Program alongside Alex Vallejo (Vallejo) and Einar Pedersen (Kelly Clarkson\, The Fray) helping Austin artists develop their music\, stage show\, business acumen\, and more. Johnny has also performed for HAAM (The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians)\, The SIMS Foundation (providing low-cost mental healthcare for musicians)\, Feeding Souls (bringing music to schools)\, and many more.” \n\njohnny-goudie.com
